Honeysuckle was the emblem of Westfield College from the beginning of the college in 1882. In 1956 the Westfield College Union Society adopted a penguin in London Zoo and named him Honeysuckle, creating the long-lasting association of Honeysuckle as a penguin mascot.
After Honeysuckle's death in 1958, the penguin mascot continued up until the 1980s.
