Daguerreotype photographic portrait miniature, image attributed to Ann Dudin Brown c.1850. Ann Dudin Brown (1822-1917) was a wealthy heiress keen to donate funds to educating women, through a school or missionary. In the 1880s she met Mary Petrie, one of the first graduates of UCL and Constance Maynard, a graduate of Girton College and with Dudin Brown’s financial support they established Westfield College.
Westfield College was unique in so far as it was committed to Christian principles, and was the first residential college for women in London.
