A catalogue of the archives of Jacob Isaacs, writer and university lecturer (1896-1973), is now available here.
The private papers comprise research notebooks, documents and notes concerning literature and film and date from 1855-c1970.
Jacob Isaacs was chair of English language and literature at Queen Mary College from 1952-1964 and was the author of more than thirty books and articles. The collection reflects Isaacs’ varied research and teaching, spanning Shakespeare and his contemporaries, to Sir George Etherege, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and twentieth century poetry. Isaacs was also a friend and fan of TS Eliot and a letter from the renowned author can be found in the collection.
