The document is the official college war record and lists the names of 73 former students who died in active service during the war.  As well as their date of death, the Roll of Honour includes biographical information such as, where they lived and what subjects they studied. For some of those who died there are even testimonials given by fellow students.

The East London College Magazine issues for 1914 to 1919, have also been digitised and are available to download here.  The  Magazine was a student publication which continued throughout the First World War.  Regular features included news from the college, poems, stories, jokes, cartoons, and reports from union societies. But the roll of service became a new regular feature, reporting the fate of fellow students to their friends.

Other resources on the First World War are available on the Meanings of Military Service Project website:www.meaningsofservice1914.qmul.ac.uk The website was developed by the College Archives and History Department as part of a public engagement project. It includes images from Queen Mary University of London Archives and the archives of Barts Health NHS Trust, and it explores the themes of Front Line, Home Front and Medicine.  In addition the website also now includes teaching resources for secondary schools, which aim to provide new ways to engage Key Stage 3 pupils with the First World War.
