As always, great progress is continuing to be made to preserve and enhance our beloved Whitechapel Library
Stained glass window - interior Whitechapel Library
Stained Glass Window Restoration
Work on the damaged stained glass window is now complete, and it is ready to be reinstated in the Library. Installation will begin on Monday 31 March and is expected to finish by Wednesday 2 April. We will do our best to keep disruption to a minimum during this time.
Scaffold Removal
Once the stained glass window is in place, the internal scaffold will be removed overnight from Friday 4 April into Saturday 5 April. To facilitate this work, the Library will close at 00.00am on Saturday 5 April and reopen at 08.00am.
Managing Noise Disruption
We acknowledge the impact of recent noisy work on the study environment and appreciate your patience. Following discussions with contractors, we have agreed that noisy work will now be limited to 08.00am–12.00pm daily. After midday, restoration work will continue at a lower noise level.
