How to search

Library Search is divided between two search tabs: Books, e-books and DVDs and Articles and More.

Books, e-books, and DVDs is the default and searches across:

  • Print collections
  • E-books
  • DVDs/Blu-rays/Videos
  • Other physical items held in the libraries
  • Some resources from the institutional repository; Queen Mary Research Online

Articles and More searches across:

  • Most of our e-journals collections and some online resources 
  • Citations from some external databases (if you expand your search to include non-full text items)

 How to search and find Books, e-books and DVDs?

You can use the Library Search Box on the Library Services homepage. Make sure you select the Books, e-books and DVDs tab, or you can visit the Library Search directly.

  • You can search by author, title or keyword. After submitting a search, you will see a list of results. Click on a listing to see more information about it.
  • You can refine your search results (e-books, Print Books, or DVDs) by selecting the format type in the left-hand sidebar of the results list.
  • To access an e-book, select the link under the title result. You may be prompted to log in with your Queen Mary ITS credentials at this stage.
  • For Print books, check if the book is Available in the Library to ensure that another reader has not borrowed it. Take note of the Location and Shelfmark to find it on the shelf.
  • For a specific search, you can use the Advanced Search

How to search for Articles and More?

You can use the Library Search Box on the Library Services homepage. Make sure you select the Articles and More tab, or you can visit the Library Search: Articles and More directly.

  • You can search by keyword from the article title, author, or subject. After submitting a search, you will see a list of Articles and more results.
  • You can refine your search results by clicking on the All Filters, Full Text, Academic (Peer-Reviewed) journals, All time, and Relevance.
  • To access the electronic article, click on the Access now or Access options button, depending on the different formats available for the article.
  • For a specific search, you can use the Advanced Search
