Edgar Mercieca

Profile

Edgar Mercieca is the Facilities and Resources Assistant and Safety Coordinator at Queen Mary, University of London, Malta Campus. On a daily basis, he monitors all preventive maintenance and repairs are done in a timely and professional manner and ensures all safety systems are in place and working correctly. He also follows up with staff that all Health and Safety training is up to date and all responsibilities are fulfilled.

Prior to joining Queen Mary University of London, Malta Campus, Edgar was living in the United States of America where he worked for 16 years at the Ritz-Carlton New York Central Park. He is a fully licenced Building Engineer by the City of New York and Fire Safety Director. There he was responsible that all assets and facilities worked seamlessly and any discrepancies were immediately corrected. Working for the Gold standard of hospitality, delivering a flawless 5-star luxury experience to all its residents and guests was his daily goal.

Additionally, Edgar proudly served with the Armed Forces of Malta. There he was a member of the Maritime Squadron, 2^nd Reg where he was the Engineer onboard P31 and P51 and also Ground support Electronics and telecommunication Repair. Edgar was involved in countless rescues and law enforcement. He attended multiple Military Engineering courses with the United States Navy and US Coast Guard.

In his spare time Edgar loves spending time with his family and watching Football. Edgar is an active member in his hometown community of Ghajnsielem (which in English means Peaceful Spring). He is a football coach in the Ghajnsielem Football Club Youth Academy. He fully participates in the yearly local festivities dedicated to Our Lady of Loreto, where he is a member of the Fireworks committee, Ghaqda Piroteknika 10 ta Dicembru and even gives his help to the other committees that help add to the celebrations.
