Each year we offer a whole host of events and activities for maths students and teachers alike. Get in touch with us for more information via maths-outreach@qmul.ac.uk.
Maths Taster Days for A-Level students
Every year we offer several Maths Taster Days for A-Level students (or equivalent) alongside other University of London institutions. These are a great opportunity to "try out" a maths degree and get a better idea of what life as a maths student might be like before applying! All events will include two taster lectures, a transitioning to university talk and a careers talk. You must be studying A-Level Maths or about to enter A-Level Maths to be eligible to attend a taster day.
Girls in Maths Taster Event
We run two Girls in Maths events per year in the spring and autumn. Please visit our events page to register for upcoming events.
Queen Mary Mathematics Society Conference
The Mathematics Society at Queen Mary hosts an annual conference for students interested in learning more about the power of Maths. The event usually takes place in March each year.
Workshops, talks and campus visits
We are able to offer a limited number of workshops and talks either in school or on our campus, for school groups of GCSE and A-Level students. If you're a secondary Maths Teacher or HE Coordinator, please get in touch for more information, by emailing maths-outreach@qmul.ac.uk.
Maths Circles
Organised by our partner charity, We Solve Problems, Maths Circles are training sessions that promote the art of problem-solving and structured thinking. Weekly Maths Circles are supplemented by Maths Battles twice per term and these are mathematical debating competitions between opposing teams with the emphasis on collaborative working.
Maths Circles complement the secondary school maths curriculums and are aimed at pupils in years 7-11. Participation is free of charge and the sessions will be conducted on Thursdays at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Mile End campus.
To register your interest, please fill out this form.
