Celebrating women in maths

On Tuesday 12th March we welcomed 70 guests to The Octagon at Queen Mary University of London for Women in Mathematics 2019, a day of talks and workshops supported by the London Mathematical Society.

Posing the question 'Where could maths take you?', we heard exciting research talks from Dr Marie-Therese Wolfram (University of Warwick), Dr Heather Harrington (University of Oxford), Prof Ivana Gudelj (University of Exeter), Prof Elaine Chew (Queen Mary) and Dr Tereza Neocleous (University of Glasgow).

We were also delighted to welcome back four of our alumni - Diana Akanho, Vicky Bozko, Priya Patel and Martyna Slota - who each shared their experience of working in industry.

Undergraduate and postgraduate students joined us from Queen Mary and institutions across the country including Lancaster, Imperial and Bath.

Thank you to all of our guests and speakers, and to the London Mathematical Society for their support.
