Lloyd Richards, an Actuarial Teaching Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, participated in a centuries-old tradition of driving sheep across Southwark Bridge as a member of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries.
On Sunday 29th September, Lloyd Richards, an Actuarial Science Teaching Fellow at Queen Mary University of London's School of Mathematical Sciences, took part in a unique tradition. As a member of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries, a livery guild with roots in London, Lloyd participated in a sheep drive over Southwark Bridge.
This annual event is a ceremonial reminder of the ancient rights granted to livery companies that allows members to bring sheep to market without paying bridge tolls. While Lloyd doesn't actually own any sheep, the tradition is a fun and symbolic way to connect with the city's history.
Lloyd's involvement in this event highlights his commitment to the actuarial community and his connection to the Worshipful Company of Actuaries. The Worshipful Company of Actuaries supports a number of actuarial science students at QMUL through prizes and bursaries, fostering the next generation of actuarial talent.
