I am currently investigating the role of extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA) in cancer. ecDNA are small circular genetic elements in the cell nucleus that have been observed to carry oncogenes in human cancer cells. My research aims to model the evolutionary dynamics of ecDNA, using both first-principles models and data-driven methods, to better understand how these elements influence cancer progression and treatment resistance. I am part of the eDyNAmiC team funded by Cancer Grand Challenges. Prior to joining Queen Mary I completed a PhD in applied mathematics at Leiden University and CWI Amsterdam, where my research was in the area of inverse problems and convex optimization. I hold Master's degrees in theoretical physics and biophysics from the University of Cologne and University College London, respectively.
