Linguistics at Queen Mary, University of London has been ranked best in London and third nationwide, just behind Cambridge and Oxford, in The Times’ Good University Guide 2011.
With an overall score of 95.5 out of 100 - for student satisfaction, research quality, UCAS entry points and graduate prospects - the Department has excelled in the poll against 25 other Linguistics Departments across the UK.
“We're really pleased that we're recognised not only for our top research rating, but also for student satisfaction,” said Professor David Adger, head of Linguistics at Queen Mary.
The figures even surpass the results of The Independent’s Complete University Guide 2011, which listed Queen Mary as a top five place to study linguistics - ahead of York, Lancaster and Sheffield and just behind Edinburgh and Cambridge.
The tables provide useful information for the more than 600,000 people applying for university this year. The information is based on data for full-time undergraduates at universities in the UK.
