Professor Chris Fowler has been appointed the new chair of UCL Partners (UCLP) Education Sub Board.
Professor Fowler, the joint Director of Medical Education at Queen Mary, University of London and Barts and The London NHS Trust, will succeed Sir John Tooke in the new role on Thursday, 1 December.
Professor Fowler also holds posts as an honorary consultant urologist at Barts and The London NHS Trust, Professor of Surgical Education at Queen Mary and chair of the North East London, North Central London and Essex Health Innovation and Education Cluster (HIEC).
He said: “I am absolutely delighted to be given this chance to develop the relationships that will shape our educational activities for the benefit of patients and practitioners across north central and north east London.
“My ambition is to work energetically across professional, geographical and institutional boundaries to create an educational system that fully embodies the commitment to excellence and collaborative ethos of UCLP.”
Professor Fowler will be looking to review the structure of the board and lead the UCLP education strategy. He will take a leading role with NHS London in developing Local Education and Training Boards for London.
The boards are expected to based around existing collaborative healthcare clusters of Academic Health Science Systems (UCLP is one of three in London) and HIECs with responsibility for developing the NHS Workforce through education and training.
