Three economics and finance programmes at Queen Mary, University of London have been given industry accreditation by the UK’s leading association for investment professionals.
Two undergraduate degrees in BSc Economics and Finance and BSc Economics, Finance and Management, have been recognised and aligned with the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) from the Chartered Financial Analyst Society of the UK (CFA UK). The IMC is the most highly acclaimed and well established qualification of its kind in the UK.
The postgraduate level MSc Finance has also been recognised by the CFA’s University Recognition Programme. The CFA UK represents the interests of around 10,000 investment professionals and is part of the worldwide network of member societies of CFA Institute (the global, not-for-profit association of investment professionals that sets the standard for professional excellence and credentials, and awards the CFA and CIPM designations).
Professor George Kapetanios, Head of Queen Mary's School of Economics and Finance, said: “We are delighted that our programmes have been accredited by this leading professional body. Their backing clearly demonstrates that Queen Mary is providing an up-to-date curriculum that endows our students with the most appropriate knowledge and skills for a career in the finance and banking sector as well as adding value to their qualifications and increasing their employability.”
Another benefit to postgraduate QM students on the MSc Investment & Finance, MSc Banking & Finance, MSc Banking, MSc Business Finance and MSc Law and Finance courses who wish to apply for the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) Masters in Wealth Management Programme is that they are now entitled to an exemption from the first module, Financial Markets.
The CISI is the largest and most widely respected professional body for those who work in the securities and investment industry in the UK and in a growing number of financial centres globally.
