Queen Mary, University of London has been selected to host the next Science on Stage conference in 2015. This conference brings together inspirational science teachers from across Europe and Canada to share best teaching practice and make international links.
More than 400 teachers from across Europe gathered last month (25-28 April) to create new ideas and foster international collaboration at the 2013 conference, which was held across the German and Polish borders, at Frankfurt (Oder) and Slubice. Highlights of the conference included a project which taught molecular biology using beads and wires, astronomy for the visually impaired and groups of school students performing their very own science shows.
Science on Stage encourages teachers to learn from one another, and develop their teaching methods. It prizes professional development for teachers by teachers, and is the only opportunity of its kind in Europe. The motto for 2015 is ‘Illuminating Science Education’, representing how Science on Stage both shines a spotlight on science education and reflects how we inspire those we teach.
The conference will be held at the Mile End Campus of Queen Mary from the 17th-20th June 2015, and over one hundred teachers from across the UK and Ireland will be invited to attend, to network and build collaborations with their international counterparts.
