A Queen Mary University of London postgraduate course focusing on the science of hormone medicine has been shortlisted at this year’s national e-learning awards, in the category of ‘best online distance learning programme’.
Endocrinology has been an internationally recognised area of expertise within QMUL’s medical school for almost half a century. The Centre for Endocrinology at QMUL offers a distance-learning Masters programme in the field, and is developing a new full-time campus-based degree for 2015.
The programme attracts physicians of all levels of seniority from around the globe who learn and discuss together, with a strong emphasis on deepening understanding of scientific and clinical principles. There is a focus on finding and evaluating complex evidence and applying this to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
The course focuses on a number of key areas, including the thyroid, bone, reproductive and paediatric endocrinology, endocrine cancers and diabetes.
Internationally-renowned faculty members utilise a range of distance learning methods to promote engagement and interaction. Student feedback has been excellent and many graduates are progressing to new posts and ventures.
The Centre has been shortlisted in a category that includes courses run by Google, Waterstones and the British Medical Journal. Presentations will be given to a panel of judges on Wednesday 24 September, and the winners will be announced on Thursday 6 November.
The E-Learning Awards are the acclaimed industry standard celebrating e-learning success, highly coveted for their high standards of independent judging. For more information, visit http://www.elearningage.co.uk/awards.aspx.
