Queen Mary University of London has been ranked as the 20th most internationally diverse university in the world, according to a list published by the Times Higher Education (THE).
The ranking takes in to account the percentage of international staff, international student numbers and the proportion of research papers published with a co-author from at least one other country. QMUL students and staff come from over 150 countries while various partnerships and activities around the world allow the university to deliver teaching and research with an international dimension and impact. Ucas application data over the past few years shows strong growth in the number of EU and non-EU student numbers while staff members also come from an internationally diverse base as 15 per cent are from the EU and 13 per cent are non-EU.
Professor David Sadler, Vice Principal (International), commented: "This is welcome confirmation of our place amongst the world's most international institutions. In terms of student and staff diversity, and international research publication, we stand out for our global reach. Diversity is a distinctive feature of campus life, and the publication achievement is a further measure of the quality of our research in many of our subject areas."
QMUL is ranked joint 20th with Queen’s University Belfast and is placed 7th in the UK. Other UK universities in the top 20 include UCL, Imperial and Oxford.
