Queen Mary University of London launches Medical School in Malta

The new Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Malta programme will be taught and delivered by staff from QMUL’s Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and will be based on the island of Gozo.

The programme will closely match QMUL’s long-standing MBBS programme in London; entry requirements and selection criteria will be similar, each student sharing a core curriculum, including early in-depth clinical experience, problem-based learning (PBL), practical sessions in laboratories, and opportunities to study intercalated undergraduate degrees through QMUL and in London.

The programme will be delivered over five years. Students will take the same assessments at the same time as MBBS students in London. On successful completion, students will be awarded an MBBS from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

The new programme comes after the Maltese Government invited QMUL to establish a new medical school to assist healthcare development in the country.
