Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is accepting applications for a record number of Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The awards will offer scholars from developing Commonwealth countries the opportunity to study on one of QMUL’s prestigious Masters Programmes.
There are six awards available across the following QMUL masters courses: MA Development and Global Health, MA Global Development Futures, MSc Health Systems and Global Policy, MSc Global Public Health and Policy, MSc Integrated Management of Freshwater Environments, MSc International Business and Politics, MPA Public Administration, MSc Sustainable Energy Engineering, and MSc Sustainable Energy Systems.
The awards will cover full overseas tuition fees and will provide a generous stipend to meet the scholars living costs in the UK, as well as air fares, baggage allowance, and any thesis costs.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) awards over 900 scholarships and fellowships for postgraduate study and professional development to Commonwealth citizens each year. In particular, for the 2017 entry, the Commission wishes to encourage applicants from across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth to apply for these awards.
Professor David Sadler, Vice-Principal (International) said: “We are proud to support the work of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, and thrilled to be hosting so many Shared Scholarships. Commonwealth scholars make a significant contribution to the international community of students at QMUL, enriching the diversity of our student body and bringing a unique perspective to the courses in which they’re engaged. We look forward to welcoming even more Commonwealth scholars in 2017.”
Former Commonwealth Scholar, Obiajulu Fred John Nnaemeka from Nigeria commented on his time studying at QMUL: “Studying at QMUL was both interesting and exciting. The university staff were very helpful and friendly, and the lecturers were very approachable. I met wonderful people from different parts of the world and built a strong global network of friends.
“One of the favourite things about QMUL and living at the Dawson Hall at Charterhouse Square was the serenity and the friendliness of the environment, which made me feel that I was at home away from home.
“London is a great city with major historical landmarks and I found time out of my busy academic schedules to enjoy as much as possible of what the city had to offer.”
Applications should be made via the Commonwealth Commission’s online application system (the EAS). Candidates should also apply to QMUL online following our normal application procedures.
