The sustainability team at Queen Mary University of London has been nominated for a 2016 Green Gown Award.
The team has made it to the shortlist for the new Sustainability Reporting category which aims to assess the quality and relevance of sustainability reporting offered throughout the publicly available information provided by institutions.
The Awards recognise the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities, colleges and the learning and skills sectors across the UK and Ireland.
Andrew Flett, Assistant Director (Sustainability) at QMUL, said: “We are delighted to be nominated for a Green Gown Award and feel that the report highlights examples of the excellent work at QMUL relating to sustainability and the contributions of innovative individuals who are working to support QMUL’s sustainability vision, for example through leading academic research.”
Iain Patton, Chief Executive of the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) which hosts the awards, added: “The Green Gown Awards provide our learning institutions and their staff and students a real opportunity to break down the barriers and achieve engagement and change. The Awards bring together leaders, academics, managers, students and wider communities to recognise the pioneering achievements being made across education, both in the UK and globally, for a better quality of life and a more sustainable future.”
The Sustainability Reporting category is sponsored, and will be judged, by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The winners will be announced at the Green Gown Awards Ceremony held at The Athena in Leicester on 10 November.
