The Centre for Commercial Legal Studies (CCLS) at QMUL has launched its 2018 International Arbitration Survey, carried out in conjunction with Global law firm White & Case LLP.
This fourth edition of the survey will focus on the evolution of international arbitration: comparing trends over recent years, exploring current perceptions and revealing what users want from the international arbitration system in the future

The survey aims to explore the sentiment of the international arbitration community as a whole and will therefore gather views from a wide and diverse pool of stakeholders - including private practitioners, in-house counsel, academics and those with experience working for arbitral institutions.
Stavros Brekoulakis, Professor in International Arbitration and Commercial Law at QMUL added: “In the last 30 years, the field of international arbitration has evolved on a great scale and in a number of ways, including in terms of legislation, jurisprudence and practice.
“The 2018 survey aims to undertake an empirical assessment of arbitration’s evolution and identify key areas of development. Importantly, the survey also aims to identify key innovations and factors that may impact on the future development of international arbitration, including the role of information technology. We are grateful for the continuing support of the arbitration community to our surveys, and we hope that responses to this year’s questionnaire will be as strong as ever.”
The survey questionnaire will be open from 10 October until 8 December 2017. In parallel, there will also be a qualitative, interview phase. The results will be launched in Spring 2018 in the form of a report, which will compare key findings from the questionnaire and interview research.
