Melissa Tatton CBE, Chief Executive of the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), has been appointed as a Council member at Queen Mary University of London.
Melissa will help oversee the strategic mission and direction at the University and brings extensive leadership experience to the Council.
She joined the Inland Revenue as a graduate tax inspector and has forged a successful career as a tax leader across a wide range of roles at HMRC including Director for Individuals and Small Business Compliance; Director, Large Business Service; and Deputy Director, Business International.
Melissa took up her current post as Chief Executive of the VOA in September 2017. The agency is responsible for providing the property valuations and advice needed to support taxation and benefits.
In addition to her role at the VOA, Melissa is also HMRC’s Tax Assurance Commissioner, responsible for overseeing the resolution of tax disputes.

It is a particularly exciting time to join the Council as it launches its new Strategy 2030. I look forward to getting started and helping the team realise its ambitions for the future.”
