A Year 5 Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student, Indriyesha Wolfgang Puri, has been awarded the University of London BDS Gold Medal 2019 following a competition with London’s top dental students.
The BDS student, based at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London, was selected with fellow students Shoba Sriram and Aishat Bashir-Gwandu to represent Queen Mary in the competition.
The three candidates competed against six candidates from Kings College London, in an examination led by external examiners from around the country. The students were tested on subjects including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental Public Health, Orthodontics and Restorative Dentistry.
On receiving the medal, Indriyesha Wolfgang Puri said: “I am delighted and honoured to have won the University of London BDS Gold Medal for Barts and The London. It is a great testament to the world-class education we are privileged to receive here and wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of all the tutors and my fellow candidates who were involved.”
The Medal will be struck by the Royal Mint and engraved, and Indriyesha will be awarded £500 in prize money.
