Queen Mary University of London will launch a Masters in Materials Science (MRes) pathway this month for students with the Research Centre for Advanced Materials (CIMAV) headquartered in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Queen Mary and CIMAV have signed an agreement to create a dual master by research degree programme with a pathway for CIMAV students to attend Queen Mary. This groundbreaking agreement strengthens the relationship between the two institutions, positively benefiting the UK and Mexico.
Professor Colin Bailey, Queen Mary's President and Principal, met with Dr Leticia Torres-Guerra, general director of CIMAV, to discuss their respective MRes programmes, CIMAV's working practices, and the processes put in place to attract high quality students to this new programme.
Professor Bailey and Dr Torres also discussed the benefits of the involvement of industry from both countries and agreed to mark the launch of the MRes with an event in March 2021 involving industry partners from both countries.
They expressed a shared desire to further strengthen the strong links already formed between the two institutions, praised the efforts made by their respective teams in setting up the programme and took the opportunity to become reacquainted, having met some years previously in their former roles.
