Professor Colin Bailey, Queen Mary’s President and Principal met with the Principal of the National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico, Professor Arturo Reyes, to secure a historic relationship between the two institutions.
On 9 June Professors Bailey and Reyes agreed the latest steps in a QMUL - IPN partnership that includes initiatives that will be a win-win scenario for both institutions.

During the meeting the two principals had a constructive conversation the outcome of which enables the strengthening of Queen Mary’s relationship with one of the biggest and best universities in Mexico.
Professors Bailey and Reyes also discussed the IPN-QMUL Partnership and Innovation Hub (PIH) that is to be established at Queen Mary’s campus. The aim of the IPN-QMUL Partnership and Innovation Hub is to develop innovative projects that meet the needs of society and also to host the current initiatives that IPN are participating in with Queen Mary and additional innovative initiatives that are being and will be created with benefits for both institutions and countries.
In addition, the two Principals exchanged their views with regards to the effect of the pandemic on the world and in particular, the education sector.
Dr Philippa Lloyd, Vice-Principal, Policy and Strategic Partnerships, Dr Sharon Ellis, Director of Research, Enterprise and Partnerships and Professor Teresa Alonso, Dean for international who are leading these initiatives will work together with the IPN Principal’s team, headed by Dr Guillermo Pérez Ishiwara to ensure these exciting new developments and initiatives are delivered as soon as possible as these will have important positive impacts for the institutions and countries involved.
