Queen Mary University of London’s Vice-Principal (Education), Professor Stephanie Marshall, has been appointed to the prestigious European University Association (EUA) Learning & Teaching Steering Committee.
Representing over 800 universities, the EUA ensures that the independent voice of European universities is heard and provides members with unique opportunities to shape European policies and initiatives affecting higher education, research, and innovation.
Its Learning & Teaching Steering Committee is responsible for guiding the organisation’s activities in this field, as well as exploring new activities which respond to the evolving profile of learning and teaching in higher education.
Professor Marshall was chosen to join the Committee further to her leadership of learning and teaching at Queen Mary, her decades of experience enhancing pedagogical approaches and the quality of learning students receive at university whilst CEO of the Higher Education Academy, and her expertise in national and international higher education policy matters, most particularly in developing approaches to assess Teaching Excellence.
Professor Marshall’s new responsibility is one of several influential external positions she holds. She recently joined the Steering Group of AccessHE, where she will help champion greater equality in higher education access and participation. She is also involved in the European Network on Teaching Excellence, where she is the expert adviser supporting the development of a teaching excellence standards framework and assists with sharing best practice in teaching excellence across Europe.
