Professor Virginia Davis has been awarded the Queen Mary Staff Medal in recognition of her exceptional, sustained contribution to Queen Mary.
Over three and a half decades of professional service, Professor Virginia Davis has been a remarkable citizen of Queen Mary. She has earned the esteem and affection of all with whom she has worked.
Virginia joined Westfield College in 1987 as a Lecturer in Medieval History. Since then, she has served as Dean for Research in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and as a Member of Senate. In the School of History, she has served two times as Head of School, before latterly acting as a path-breaking Senior Tutor and Director of Student Support.
As a School leader she has navigated the ever-shifting higher education environment with intelligence, strategic foresight, and humanity. She is admired as being someone who genuinely cares and will always go out of their way to help those most in need.
