Nine subjects taught at Queen Mary University of London have been ranked top in London for student satisfaction, and eight subjects are top ten in the UK, according to the latest results of a nationwide survey of final-year undergraduates.
The 2014 National Student Survey (NSS) questioned UK undergraduates on various aspects of their student experience, including their overall satisfaction.
The NSS survey results show that 86 per cent of QMUL students are satisfied with the teaching on their course, with nine subjects topping the league tables in London: Aerospace Engineering, Comparative Literature, Dentistry, Drama, German, Materials, Medicine, Physics and Astronomy, and Zoology.
The results also show that over 80 per cent of our students are pleased with learning resources - in a five-year high, 85 per cent of QMUL students are satisfied with IT resources, and 83 per cent with library resources.
Overall, more than two thirds of our subjects – 20 out of 28 – feature in the top five in London, including:• Drama: ranked 1st ; 97 per cent overall satisfaction• Comparative Literary studies: ranked 1st; 95 per cent overall satisfaction• Materials: ranked joint 1st ; 95 per cent overall satisfaction• Physics and Astronomy: ranked joint 1st ; 94 per cent overall satisfaction• Medicine: ranked 1st ; 94 per cent overall satisfaction • Dentistry: ranked joint 1st; 93 per cent overall satisfaction• Aerospace Engineering: ranked 1st; 88 per cent overall satisfaction• Molecular Biology: ranked joint 2nd; 95 per cent overall satisfaction• Physical Geography and Environmental Sciences: ranked 2nd; 93 per cent overall satisfaction• French Studies: ranked 2nd; 92 per cent overall satisfaction• Chemistry: ranked 2nd; 89 percent overall satisfaction• History: ranked joint 3rd; 94 per cent overall satisfaction• Law: ranked joint 3rd; 91 per cent overall satisfaction• Film Studies: ranked joint 3rd; 90 per cent overall satisfaction• Iberian Studies: ranked joint 3rd; 85 per cent overall satisfaction• Mechanical Engineering: ranked 4th; 86 per cent overall satisfaction
Also, more students than ever were satisfied with QMUL’s Students’ Union, which increased three per cent since 2013 to 71 per cent against the national average of 67 per cent.
The Students’ Union provide sports clubs with access to world-class facilities at the Queen Elizabeth Park, societies for all interests, student media and volunteering opportunities, and they represent the student voice and support individual needs.
