Queen Mary University of London has appointed a new Vice Principal (International).
Professor David Sadler, currently Vice President for Academic Affairs at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in China, will take up the post on 1 September 2014.
Professor Sadler is a distinguished geographer who built his early academic career at the University of Durham. He moved to the University of Liverpool in 2002, where he has served as Head of the Department of Geography and Dean of the Faculty of Social and Environmental Sciences. He also took a lead in internationalisation activities at Liverpool, establishing new relationships in Latin America and being heavily involved in the establishment of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. He has been Vice President for Academic Affairs at XJTLU since 2010, in which time the institution has grown to become the largest international joint-venture university in China.
Professor Simon Gaskell, President and Principal of Queen Mary, said: “I am delighted that Professor Sadler is joining Queen Mary. His wealth of experience in international affairs will enable the development of more and deeper international partnerships and collaborations, and further enhance the experience of everyone who works and studies with us by embedding an international outlook in all of our activities.”
