Transcript of an interview with Albert Reynolds, Irish Taoiseach, by John Humphrys for BBC On the Record on 6 November 1993. On 29 October John Major and Albert Reynolds issued a joint statement refusing to endorse the Hume-Adams proposals. Following a meeting with Major five days later, John Hume declared that peace could be reached within a week on the basis of the Hume-Adams proposals. On the date of the Fianna Fáil Ard-Fheis, Albert Reynolds discusses the position of the Irish government on negotiations with the republican movement. On the Record was BBC's flagship political programme.
