Video interview with Bernadette Devlin, Unity MP for Mid Ulster, by Don McManus for RTE News in April 1969. In August 1968 the Northern Ireland Civil Rights movement began public marches in support of its objectives, causing community tensions between Catholics and Protestants in cities such as Derry/Londonderry. Devlin was a prominent civil rights activist. In the April 1969 general election she successfully stood as a candidate in the Mid Ulster constituency. On the day of polling Devlin discusses the potential results of the election.
