Interview with Daithi McKay and Bob Stoker by Stephen Nolan for BBC Radio Ulster The Nolan Show on 7 May 2013

Published:

Audio interview with Daithi McKay, Sinn Fein MLA for North Antrim, and Bob Stoker, UUP Belfast City councillor for South Belfast, by Stephen Nolan for BBC Radio Ulster The Nolan Show on 7 May 2013. Earlier that same month Northern Ireland’s Minister of Finance, DUP MLA Sammy Wilson, ordered the Union flag to be flown at five additional government buildings. A December 2012 Belfast City Council ruling that the flag could only be flown on public buildings on 18 designated days had triggered public protests among unionists in Belfast in late 2012 and early 2013. McKay and Stoker discuss the impact of the flag issue on political stability in Northern Ireland. The interviewees also respond to comments from callers. The Nolan Show is BBC Radio Ulster’s daily current affairs programme.
