Video interview with David Ford, Northern Ireland Minister of Justice, by Jim Fitzpatrick for BBC Northern Ireland The Politics Show on 13 September 2009. On 18 November 2008 the DUP and Sinn Féin agreed a roadmap to allow for the devolution of policing and justice powers to Northern Ireland. However, progress was slow on coming to a final agreement on these issues in 2009. Particular difficulty arose over which party would fill the portfolio of Minister of Justice. In this interview Ford discusses the political impasse. Following the Hillsborough Agreement, he was appointed as Minister of Justice in April 2010. The Politics Show is a weekly current affairs programme on BBC Northern Ireland.
