Transcript of an interview with David Trimble, leader of the UUP, by John Humphrys for the On the Record BBC television show. Humphrys asks Trimble for his opinion on Tony Blair holding face to face meetings with Gerry Adams and other Sinn Féin members in Downing Street. Humphrys also questions Trimble on the current multi-party talks. Trimble states that his party is seriously engaged in the process. He confirms that he has been in talks with Bertie Ahern, but, looking ahead to a final agreement, he rejects the suggestion that any body outside the British political system should have jurisdiction over Northern Ireland.
