Audio interviews with ex-paramilitary prisoners of the Northern Ireland conflict by Barbara Walshe for the RTE Radio 1 series Picking up the Pieces broadcast on 3 March 2012. Ex-combatants from both nationalist and unionist communities reflect deeply on both the opportunities and limitations in the growth of inter-community reconciliation in Northern Ireland. These interviews are part of week one of this broadcast series subtitled Ex Combatants. This radio series explores the work of grassroots organisations seeking to promote cross community reconciliation in Northern Ireland through dialogue, recreational activities and local initiatives.
