Video interview with Gerry Adams, President of Sinn Féin, by Noel Thompson for Hearts and Minds on 19 February 2009. On 18 November 2008 the DUP and Sinn Féin agreed a roadmap to allow for the devolution of policing and justice powers to Northern Ireland. However, progress was slow on coming to a final agreement on these issues in early 2009. In this interview Adams discusses the difficulties in negotiating a final agreement between the DUP and Sinn Féin on the devolution of policing and justice powers. These powers were finally devolved to the Northern Ireland administration under the terms of the Hillsborough Agreement of February 2010. This is the first part of a two part interview.
