Video interview with Gerry Adams, president of Sinn Fein, for ITN on 15 February 1999. Multi-party talks at Stormont were ongoing regarding agreement on the date for the establishment of the Northern Ireland Executive, the date most widely suggested being 10 March. On 14 February Bertie Ahern gave apparently contradictory public statements on the issue, stating alternatively that the IRA needed to begin decommissioning before the Executive could come into power and, later, that Sinn Fein should not be excluded from government in the absence of such decommissioning. Adams discusses Ahern’s statements and their implications for the current talks.
