One month previously the DUP, Sinn Féin, UUP and SDLP formed a new Northern Ireland Executive, devolved power-sharing government having been provided for in the St. Andrew’s Agreement of late 2006. On 8 May the Northern Ireland Assembly met and Ian Paisley was elected First Minister of Northern Ireland, Martin McGuinness becoming deputy First Minister. In this interview Paisley discusses the possibilities and difficulties of power-sharing government in Northern Ireland.
