Video interviews with Ivan Cooper, Independent Nationalist MP for Mid-Londonderry, and Eddie McAteer, leader of the Nationalist Party, for RTE News in August 1969. Events surrounding the Civil Rights movement provoked violent clashes between nationalists, unionists and the RUC in Northern Ireland in August 1969. Cooper and McAteer discuss the rising tensions in Derry/Londonderry and the possibility of direct rule of Northern Ireland from Westminster on account of these events. The interviews are preceded by film footage of the trouble in the city.
