In July 1977 Jack Lynch became Taoiseach of Ireland once again as head of a Fianna Fail government. Meanwhile in the United Kingdom, the Labour Party’s James Callaghan had acceded to the position of Prime Minister in April 1976. In this interview Lynch discusses his relations with Callaghan and the future constitutional position of Northern Ireland. The Irish Times is the leading daily newspaper in Ireland.
