Transcript of an interview with James Molyneaux, leader of the UUP, by John Humphrys for BBC On the Record on 6 March 1994. Three days later the British and Irish governments jointly issued the Downing Street Declaration which affirmed the right of the people of Northern Ireland to self-determination and stated that future relations between North and South on the island of Ireland were to be determined by the consent of people on both parts of the island. Molyneaux presents his party's opinion on the Declaration as a framework for future political talks on Northern Ireland. On the Record was BBC's flagship political programme.
