Video interview with Joe Cahill (former Chief of Staff of the Provisional IRA), Martin Meehan (former IRA Volunteer), Gerry Kelly (Sinn Fein MLA for Belfast North) and David McClurg (secretary to the Police Federation of Northern Ireland) for ITN on 19 January 2000. On 9 September 1999 the Patten Report was published containing 175 recommendations for the reform of policing in Northern Ireland including the renaming of the existing police force, the removal of most visible symbols of British identity and an equally proportionate recruitment policy for Catholics and Protestants. On 19 January 2000 Peter Mandelson, then Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, announced the implementation of almost all the Patten reform measures.
