Transcript of interview with John Major, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and Albert Reynolds, Irish Taoiseach, on 15 July 1994. On 15 December 1993 the British and Irish governments jointly issued the Downing Street Declaration which affirmed the right of the people of Northern Ireland to self-determination and stated that future relations between North and South on the island of Ireland were to be determined by the consent of people on both parts of the island. In this interview Major and Reynolds discuss the progress made in negotiations between the two governments in the intervening seven months.
