Audio interview with Kate Carroll, widow of PSNI constable Stephen Carroll, by Wendy Austin for BBC Radio Ulster Talkback on 1 November 2012. Earlier that day David Black, a prison officer at HM Prison Maghaberry near Lisburn, was shot dead on the M1 on his way to work. The killing was later claimed by a coalition of dissident republicans calling themselves the IRA, formed in June 2012. Carroll discusses the emotional impact of such a death as she had experienced with the killing of her husband in March 2009. Talkback is BBC Radio Ulster’s daily afternoon phone-in programme.
