Video interview with Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, for ITN on 1 December 1979. On 27 August the Provisional IRA detonated two roadside bombs in attacks on the British Army near Warrenpoint, Co. Down. Eighteen British soldiers were killed and six injured. Return fire from British troops at the scene killed one civilian across the border. Margaret Thatcher visited surviving members of the British Army’s Parachute Regiment later that year. In this interview she discusses troop morale and suggestions of tension between the British political and military personnel in Northern Ireland.
