Interview with Mark Cosgrove and Joe Marley by Stephen Nolan for BBC Radio Ulster The Nolan Show on 3 October 2013

Published:

Audio interview with Mark Cosgrove, UUP Antrim Line councillor for Newtownabbey, and Joe Marley, member of the Crumlin Ardoyne Residents Association, by Stephen Nolan on 3 October 2013. On 9 July the Parades Commission ruled that an Orange Order parade could not pass through the Ardoyne area of Belfast on its return journey on 12 July, a decision which led to clashes between protesters and the PSNI in north and east Belfast for several days. Protesters against the decision subsequently set-up a camp at Twaddell Avenue, Belfast, to demand a reversal of the Parades Commission ruling. On 2 October the Parades Commission rejected an Orange Order proposal to complete the original parade and hold talks with local residents thereafter. In this interview Cosgrove and Marley discuss possible resolutions to the issue. The Nolan Show is a daily current affairs programme on BBC Radio Ulster.
