Audio interview with Martin Lynch, playwright, and Liz Kennedy, journalist, by Wendy Austin for BBC Radio Ulster Talkback on 9 September 2013. Lynch’s new play ‘Meeting at Menin Gate’ which explored truth and reconciliation in Northern Ireland drew criticism from some for its focus on violence. The production took place within the context of greater political attention on the issue of dealing with the past through the beginning of the Haass talks later that month. In this interview Lynch and Kennedy discuss the importance of the arts in addressing issues such as victims and legacies. Talkback is BBC Radio Ulster’s daily afternoon phone-in programme.
