Transcript of an interview with Martin McGuinness, vice president of Sinn Fein, by John Humphrys for BBC On the Record on 23 October 1994. Ten days earlier the Combined Loyalist Military Command announced a paramilitary ceasefire. On 31 August the Provisional IRA had also announced a cessation of military activities. McGuinness discusses the stability of these ceasefires and their influence over the republican negotiating position in future political talks. On the Record was BBC's flagship political programme.
