Published:

Audio interview with Mervyn Jones (Alliance Party Victoria councillor on Belfast City Council), Ian McLaughlin (community worker with Lower Shankill Community Association) and Jim McVeigh (Sinn Fein Lower Falls councillor on Belfast City Council) by Stephen Nolan for BBC Radio Ulster The Nolan Show on 29 November 2013. During previous weeks both Union and Tricolour flags were illegally erected at Belfast City Council depots causing intimidation to some staff working at the sites. The incidents occurred almost one year to the day when Belfast City Council voted to only fly the Union flag over Belfast City Hall on designated days and the flag protests which followed. Jones, McLaughlin and McVeigh discuss the sensitivities surrounding the flag issue. The Nolan Show is a daily current affairs programme on BBC Radio Ulster.
