The Belfast Agreement/ Good Friday Agreement gave a commitment to the development of a new regional development strategy within Northern Ireland. This was set out in 1999 in a government document entitled Shaping our future which later integrated suggestions from groups and organisations in wider society. McKimm discusses this policy document and the potential of the new regional development strategy.
